Situated in Hertfordshire, near the border with Middlesex and close to North West London, Moor Park is a fantastic location to live, work and enjoy – providing easy commuting in and out of Central London too.

NEED TO KNOW

Lord Leverhulme, an industrialist and philanthropist purchased 3000 acres of land in 1919, including the area that is now known as the Moor Park Golf Club, its clubhouse (Moor Park Mansion) and Sandy Lane Lodge Golf Club.

In 1922, 288 acres were earmarked for parkland, with architects commissioned to design infrastructure for the development of dwellings and to supervise the design of new homes. Sewers and roads were constructed and houses were built across the south and west from the Metropolitan Line station of Sandy Lodge Halt. In 1950, this became ‘Moor Park Station’.

Construction on the estate was halted due to the outbreak of the Second World War but once restrictions on building materials were relaxed in 1954, development resumed. Managed by Moor Park Limited and Kewferry Estate Co. Ltd (both subsidiaries of Lever Brothers Limited), the former company went into voluntary liquidation in 1957 and was effectively replaced by Moor Park (1958) Limited.

It was this company that the private roads and open spaces were transferred to, as well as the benefits of the restrictive covenants designed to preserve the character of the estate. The covenants are included in the deeds of all properties with the estate itself being a conservation area and parts of it being within the heavily protected Metropolitan Green Belt.

Moor Park has an exclusive parade of shops that services the everyday needs of residents. The nearest shopping centres and supermarkets are located in nearby Northwood, Watford and Rickmansworth.

The area is well-served for golf, with several respected courses in the area – Moor Park, Northwood, Sandy Lodge and Batchworth Park Golf Clubs all within easy reach. Other local leisure pursuits and facilities include Northwood Health and Racquets Club (operated by Virgin Active) and several other gyms along with tennis, cricket, football, shooting and sailing clubs.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Moor Park underground station is located on the Metropolitan Line and runs frequent services to Central London. The M40 is around 6 miles away from Moor Park, offering routes to London and Birmingham. Junction 18 of the M25 lies 2 miles away, while the M1 is just a few miles to the east. Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead and Luton Airports are all easily accessible via the M25 & M1.
