NEED TO KNOW

Amersham is made up of two different areas; Old Amersham, which is located in the valley of the River Misbourne, and Amersham-on-the-Hill which was developed during the early 20th Century as the railway expanded.

Amersham-on-the-Hill is where many of the town’s shops, eateries and cafes can be found. Nearby is Little Chalfont, a quieter town with its unique balance of leisure and social amenities.

Amersham’s location within the Chilterns makes it an ideal base to explore the surrounding countryside, including walking, cycling, riding, golf, shooting and ballooning. There are several National Trust properties to enjoy too, including Dashwood House, Cliveden and Hughenden Manor.

Other local attractions within easy reach of Amersham include the Roald Dahl Museum, Chiltern Open Air Museum, and Wendover Woods owned by the Forestry Commission.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Located on the Metropolitan Line and Chiltern line, Amersham is served by high-speed trains that travels quickly to/from London (the Marylebone service takes only 30 minutes).

Easy motorway access can be found at nearby Hemel Hempstead (for the M1), Chorleywood (M25) and Beaconsfield (M40).
