EPCs – Frequently Asked Questions
What is an EPC?
An EPC tells us about the energy performance of a property. The ‘A’ category represents the most energy-efficient properties, whereas the ‘G’ category of properties are the least energy-efficient. The document will also demonstrate the environmental impact of each building by indicating its carbon dioxide emissions. The assessment must be conducted by a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor.
Am I required to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)?
Since 1 October 2008, it has been a legal requirement for all landlords to have a valid EPC for their property prior to letting.
How long is an EPC valid for?
A valid EPC is valid for 10 years and can also be used for multiple tenancies within that period.
How do I order an EPC?
Paige and Petrook are able to arrange for an EPC to be carried out on your behalf in order to avoid any delays letting your property.
